‘Draft Budget is a good deal for local people’ says Cynon AM

Vikki Howells AM welcomed the publication of the Welsh Government’s draft budget, saying that its investment in schools, public services and infrastructure represents a good deal for the Cynon Valley.

The aim of the budget is to take Wales forward by ensuring the implementation of the Welsh Labour administration’s Programme for Government whilst also delivering on key manifesto commitments.

Despite fiscal uncertainty due to the outcome of the EU referendum and continued real-terms spending cuts from the UK Government, the Welsh Labour Government is investing in Wales.

Vikki Howells AM said:-

“This budget is providing local services in Cynon Valley with the funding and support they need.

“I stood on an ambitious set of pledges at this year’s Assembly elections, pledges that will make a real difference to the people of Cynon Valley.

“I welcome the progressive step forwards this budget marks in implementing these pledges.

“100,000 new all age apprenticeships, 30 hours free childcare a week for 48 weeks, a £100m fund to boost school standards.

“These are pledges taking Cynon Valley and Wales forwards.”
