Vikki congratulates Cylch Meithrin Seren Fach on excellent inspection outcomes

Cynon Valley AM Vikki Howells has congratulated a Mountain Ash-based Welsh Medium pre-school on a set of inspection results that has put them at the ‘top of the class’. The Assembly Member visited Cylch Meithrin Seren Fach to chat to staff about the secret to their success, and say ‘shwmae’ to the children who attend the pre-school. Vikki heard about how the pre-school’s child centred ethos is delivering excellent results.

Cylch Meithrin Seren Fach is one of only two registered Welsh Medium pre-school providers in Cynon Valley for children aged 2 to school age. It receives funding for every 3 year old child the term following their third birthday for 15 hours a week. They are a registered charity and keep their fees as low as possible for affordable childcare.

Cylch Meithrin Seren Fach’s recent Estyn inspection achieved Good in all areas. A couple of weeks later they also received an unannounced CSSIW inspection which again achieved Good in all areas.

Vikki Howells AM said:-

“It was good to meet Manager Claire Jones, the day to day leader Donna Davies and the rest of the staff and children at Cylch Meithrin Seren Fach.

“I heard about their strong links with Ysgol Gymraeg Abercynon and how they help deliver the best support for the children during their transition to full-time education in primary school.

“I want to congratulate all involved for their strong set of inspection results. The popularity of the setting is clearly growing, and staff told me that any parents who are interested should get their children’s names down as soon as possible as only limited spaces are available”.

Donna Davies, Leader of Cylch Meithrin Seren Fach, said:-

“We want to thank Vikki Howells for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit us.

“Thank you also to all the staff for their continued hard work and commitment to the setting and to past and present children, parents and grandparents for all their support over the last few years which has helped us grow and develop as a setting.

“Without everyone’s support we would not have achieved what we have today which is a setting that is committed to provide the best possible start to a child’s education in a caring and loving environment”.
