Vikki Howells AM recently visited Welsh Hills Bakery to find out more about the family-run business and to hear about their success in the South and Mid Wales Chambers of Trade Welsh Business Awards.
At the prestigious ceremony, the company not only won the Success through Overseas Trade award for the second successive year, but was also named as Winner of Winners.
The Cynon Valley AM visited the company’s bakery in Hirwaun to meet with staff and find out what they do.
Welsh Hills Bakery was established in 1956 and is now run by the third generation of the same family, employing over 80 staff in making cakes and biscuits.
Last year, it sold around £5 million of baked goods, a fifth of which was exported across the world.
Welsh Hills Bakery also supplies most national supermarket chains, and produces a range of gluten- and dairy-free goodies.
