Weekly Round Up – 8th July

Here is my round up of the past seven days, setting out some of the things I’ve been up to as Member of the Senedd for Cynon Valley.


  1. Attended official opening of Caradog exhibit in Cynon Valley Museum.
  2. Visit to Cilfyndd a Phont Norton Ti a Fi Welsh-medium baby and toddler group.
  3. Held a street surgery in Cilfynydd.


  1. Asked the Minister for Education how projects such as Pontypridd High School’s working with a charity to raise awareness of bowel cancer can be built into the new curriculum.
  2. Spoke about the 150th anniversary of Caradog and Cor Mawr winning the Challenge Cup.
  3. Chaired a meeting of the Industrial Communities Cross-Party Group that discussed coal tip safety with the Minister for Climate Change.

Welsh Government

  1. New planning laws, a statutory licensing scheme and proposals to change land transaction tax will be included in a package of measures to address second homes in Wales, the Welsh Government has said.
  2. First Minister Mark Drakeford has announced the new Bills to be introduced in Wales in the coming year
  3. The Chief Medical Officer for Wales is reminding people to follow simple steps to protect themselves from the risk of catching COVID-19.
