Weekly Round Up – October 15th

This week, we had the Official Opening of the Sixth Senedd. It was a tremendous event, and was pleased to be able to invite Cynon Valley Community COVID CHAMPIONS Janis Werrett and Grace Glendon to attend as official guests.

Some other highlights from the week have included:-

Constituency

  1. Regular interview with GTFM community radio station.
  2. Street surgery in Robertstown with Cllr Gareth Jones.

Senedd

  1. Questioned the Minister for Education on how we can support mental well-being in education.
  2. Called on the UK Government to meet its responsibility to fund work to ensure disused coal tips are safe.
  3. Spoke in a debate on renewable energy and community benefits.
  4. Chaired a meeting of the Cross-Party Group on Industrial Communities.

Welsh Government

  1. Ministers have refreshed the COVID-19 Vaccination Strategy, setting out how the vaccination programme will continue to deliver effectively, efficiently and at pace into the autumn and winter months to keep Wales safe.
  2. There was an update on the Welsh Government’s ‘Together for Mental Health’ Delivery Plan.
  3. £3.31 million will be available to improve ventilation in schools, colleges and universities in Wales, the Education Minister has announced.
  4. Ministers set out plans to improve biodiversity in Wales.
